ABOUT
The Canadian Association of Literary Festivals (CALF) was founded in 2022 to provide member festivals with resources and advocacy support as they promote and deliver curated annual events that facilitate the growth and well-being of key stakeholders in the national literary ecology.
WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?
CALF members are literary festivals that host author-based events and promote and sell books as their primary activity. They typically host an annual festival with curated sessions that take place within Canada. They should also be an organization that receives national or provincial funding for the specific purpose of delivering a literary festival.
HOW CAN AN ORGANIZATION APPLY AND WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
Applications will be reviewed by the membership committee to ensure that CALF’s mission and focus will be relevant to organizations who wish to be a part of CALF.
WHAT IS THE COST OF MEMBERSHIP?
The cost of annual membership is $500 and includes registration and attendance for one member of your organization at the annual CALF conference. Festivals with a smaller/limited budget should still apply, where they can request a reduced rate based on size and/or budget.
WHO ARE THE CALF BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
Nominations for the Board of Directors and its associated committees take place at the annual conference.
WHEN IS THE NEXT CONFERENCE?
The annual CALF conference alternates yearly between virtual and in-person formats, with the next conference taking place November 19–21, 2025, in Ottawa.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Interested members should fill out the application form. New members will need to apply by April 30, 2025, to guarantee involvement in the annual conference. Annual membership renewals will take place at the end of the calendar year.
